We’re Going There
A 3-part workshop starting August 4th to fight the dread by exploring death, fear, and what it means to begin this work.
If talking about death feels overwhelming, taboo, or hard to know where to start, you’re not alone. This workshop offers a supported place to start.
This is not about having everything figured out. It’s about creating enough to begin.
Why We Created This
We created this workshop because we believe people deserve a way into these conversations that feels more human, grounded, and less intimidating.
So often, death is either avoided entirely or treated as something only professionals can talk about. We want to offer a different experience: one that is calm, clear, and genuinely supportive.
You do not need to arrive ready. You just need to arrive.
What This Is
A 3-session workshop that is a practical, digestible introduction to talking about death.
Together, we will explore:
- What happens for you when death comes up.
- How to notice when something feels like too much.
- Ideas to help you contain this work.
- What it means to begin this work without rushing yourself.
- A guided Q&A process to help you reflect on what you want next.
This is part info-sharing, part thinking through it, and making sense of what you’ve been avoiding together
Who It’s For
This workshop is for you if:
- You’re thinking about the impact of talking about death, but but the idea of jumping into it all at once feels too big.
- You get the urge to run the other way when death is brought up, and want something different.
- You like doing things more with friends than alone.
- Learning about about how death conversations affect your mind and body.
- You want to become more grounded, informed, and clear about your next step.
Who It’s Not For
This workshop may not be the right fit if:
- You’re looking for a purely informational lecture with no reflection or participation.
- You want a deep advanced training on end-of-life planning.
- Group isn’t your thing.
- You’re looking for a quick fix or one-size-fits-all answer.
- There is active dying or crisis for you right now.
- You’re wanting therapeutic support around death work.
What We’ll Cover
Session 1: Getting Started
We’ll get to know each other, talk about what happens when death enters a conversation, and explore how you can notice your own responses. You’ll begin learning how your nervous system may react when death comes up, and why that matters.
Session 2: Creating Skill
We’ll revisit and answer questions from the prior week, check in, and explore a simple containment skill so you have a tool to help you pace and contain your work in this area.
Session 3: Ask Us Anything
This final session brings the learning together. You can put us in the hot-seat and ask questions you have about death work. We’ll answer questions, reflect on what has come up, and help you think about what you want to do with what you’ve learned. This is a chance to integrate, assess, and decide what your next step might be.
What We Hope You’ll Walk Away With
- A clearer understanding of how death conversations affect you.
- A simple tool you can use to create guardrails around this work.
- Having watched others talk about death.
- A changed relationship with the topic of death.
- A sense of whether this is something you want to keep exploring.

Meet Your Facilitators

We are Colleen and Meghan, the Death Besties.
Together, we bring a mix of coaching, lived experience, and psychological insight to this work. Our goal is to create a space where you’re not just hearing ideas, but actually learning tools you can use.
We don’t believe you need to become an expert in death to begin the conversation. We believe you need a place to start.
You may also leave with a deeper appreciation for how much power there is in simply beginning.
FAQ
Do I need experience with death planning or grief work?
No. This workshop is designed as a beginners space. You do not need any prior experience.
Will this be too heavy?
We are intentionally holding the work carefully. The goal is not to overwhelm you, but to make the topic more approachable. That being said, you know yourself best. If at any point it is feeling like too much, you are welcome to stop. Participation in every aspect is voluntary.
Is this therapy?
No. This is an educational workshop, not therapy, counseling, or medical treatment. No therapist-client, psychologist-patient or other clinical or therapeutic relationship is created by your participation, regardless of either facilitator’s professional background. These are educational tools, not a substitute for trauma treatment, therapy, or medical care. If you are currently in crisis, working through significant unprocessed trauma, or unsure whether this format is right for you, we encourage you to talk to your own therapist or healthcare provider before joining, or to reach out to us with questions first. This workshop is not equipped to provide real-time crisis support.
Will I need to speak in the group?
You’re welcome to participate in whatever way feels right for you. You can listen, reflect, and share as much or as little as you’d like. We will invite participation at various times in hopes of fostering a supportive community. However, your engagement is entirely your choice.
What if I’m not sure I want to be a “death bestie”?
That’s completely okay. You do not need to identify that way to benefit from this workshop. This is for anyone who wants to start the conversation.
